The youth in the 1950s no longer just looked like a small version of their parents, they started to wear Levi 502s which were just seen as work wear before hand. They had big hairstyles and raced big extravagant cars and went dancing with rock and roll music.
Marylyn Monroe was arguably the biggest icon from the 1950s era, she was; a dancer, a performer, a singer and a sex symbol. She's known for her parts in 'Some like it hot' and ' Gentlemen prefer blondes.' She had a certain glamourous look that many people still to this day try to look like with the red lips, blonde hair and curvy figure.
