Blondey McCoy

Blondey McCoy is a 20 year old from London, I decided to do a blog post about him because of how much he has achieved at such a young age. 

He is a pro skater for Adidas where he travels the world to film skate videos. He is also the creative director of five year old fashion brand Thames. And an artist with his first exhibition in 2015, which included 34 collages at soho’s Heni Gallery.

As a 20 year old in my first year at uni just starting to find my own aspirations in life I find him very inspiring. 

When I started researching Blondey McCoy I realised it hasn’t always been an easy life for him. In an interview with The Evening Standard he said; “Looking back it was clear I was going to become an addict as soon as I could get my hands on anything harder than a multipack of Dairy Milk. Drugs took over a bit and I spent the majority of 2013 indoors and wide awake doing little else apart from them.” 

Obviously since then he has achieved a lot and has been sober since New Year’s Day. McCoy has recently partnered up with Burberry to create three outdoor murals publicly displayed in downtown Manhattan. The idea of the large installations was to show a very British Christmas Eve party.

I look forward to seeing what else Blondey McCoy comes up with next as he seems to be always dipping into something new.
